Vitruvian Mat Holder Assembling Instructions
-
Go buy all the supplies needed:
-
You need several things to complete that project to protect your vitruvian!
-
3/4 Inch Horse Stall Mat / Rubber Floor Mat
-
Minimum dimensions: 108.7 cm (width) x 52.8 cm (depth)
-
Width allows 2-3 mm of clearance for the mat holders.
-
Depth (52.8 cm) can be greater if you plan to build a platform matching the Vitruvian's height for extra training space (see platform details below).
-
Additional platform details provided at the end.
-
-
-
-
Utility Knife (Exacto Knife)
-
For cutting the mat to size and creating two holes.
-
-
Drill (optional)
-
Useful for making small guide holes to outline the cut areas and simplify cutting.
-
-
Glue Gun with hot glue sticks
-
For securing the mat holders to the mat.
-
-
A Large Ruler or a Straight Edge (to cut the rubber mat)
-
To guide your cuts and ensure precision.
-
-
Spring Clamps (or Similar Clamping Tools)
-
To hold the ruler or straight edge in place while cutting.
-
-
-
-
Cutting the Rubber Mat to Size *Do this for every cut*:
-
Measure and Mark:
-
Mark the cutting lines on the rubber mat:
-
Width: 108.7 cm
-
Depth: 52.8 cm (or more if you're building a platform for extra training space).
-
-
-
Prepare Your Workspace:
-
Use a protective surface beneath the mat to avoid damaging your floor.
-
-
Cut the Mat:
-
Secure the ruler with clamps to keep it in place (Measure twice, cut once).
-
use something straight to guide your blade
-
Use the utility knife to cut along the marked lines. Make several shallow passes instead of trying to cut through in one go—the mat is very durable.
-
-
-
-
Mark out the holes for the Mat Holders:
-
Use construction tape to mark the lines and hole positions without drawing directly on the mat with the measurement down bellow.
-
If you make the mat deeper than the machine, ensure you identify the front and where is the extension of the mat of the machine so the holes align correctly with the mat holders.
-
Double-check all measurements before cutting: Measure twice, cut once.
-
-
-
Hole Specifications:
-
Diameter: 11.225 cm
-
Use a printed template for precise hole placement (click here to access the template)
-
-
-
Cut the Holes:
-
Optionally, drill small guide holes to outline the circle for easier cutting (Measure twice, cut once.).
-
The more holes you drill, the easier it will be to cut
-
-
Use the utility knife to cut out the holes carefully (It is normal if it is not easy because the mat is very durable).
-
Don't worry about cutting perfectly—there is 1.65 cm of play with the mat holders on each side for adjustments later.
-
-
Check for Alignment and Adjustments:
-
Place the mat on the Vitruvian and insert the mat holders into their slots.
-
If the holes don't align perfectly, identify the areas that need to be trimmed and carefully adjust the cuts as needed.
-
Make sure the mat is lined up perfectly with the Vitruvian
-
-
-
Glue the Mat Holders to the Rubber Mat:
-
Once everything lines up perfectly (Mat and Mat holders), clamp the mat holders to the mat and flip the mat over to access the bottom side.
-
Fill the empty space around the mat holders with hot glue. This process takes about 5 minutes per hole.
-
I push the Hot Glue stick by hand into the machine instead of the trigger to make it drip faster.
-
-
The glue will solidify and fuse the rubber mat to the mat holders, creating a seamless and secure bond.
-
-
Enjoy Your Setup:
-
Enjoy your Vitruvian while it is finally protected! Enjoy!
